Lantern to Lantern, by Alfonso Nazario IV

This world is just too small

I reach out… across the darkness

I fly like a wisp from lantern to lantern

Only wishing for the light of day

The moon is a premonition of what is to come

Time moves on however, it is still night

I go from lantern to lantern

This is a cycle I’ve taken part of for so long that my memories of the past have faded

The cold icy blue light is my short lived guide

This is my last lantern

I peer to the horizon to see a warm and vast light rising

Without hesitation, I fly like the winds of a tempest

Now the sun has risen from this world of dark nights

With her being that sun

I bask in her love

I leave behind my past in the dust and walk forward

Now with her by my side
